We are all blessed to be living in a community that continues to experience dramatic growth. Walking hand-in-hand with such growth is tremendous opportunity for new and established businesses alike. As business owners and entrepreneurs we are each looking for that dependable horse to hitch our wagon to. As members of the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce, we are often asked, with great anticipation, “How does my business reach more people,” or, “What is the most effective way to market to the community,” and then, finally, “Why should I join the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce?”

The answer to the first two questions is found in the asking of the third. Simply put,

The Chamber is a solid network of local professionals focused on promoting the civic and commercial good of the Town of Flower Mound, the Chamber and its membership. There are many examples of businesses and entrepreneurs who credit their association with the Chamber for their early success or continued growth. One example is a Chamber member who owns and operates a local photography studio. She has been a dedicated member and tireless worker for the Chamber for the past nine years. When she started her photography business, she was new to the community and no one knew who she was or what she did. She began going to the Chamber’s Leads Networking group that meets twice monthly on Tuesdays, and of her experience she says, “Most of my contacts and clients
are either directly or indirectly related to my association with the Chamber. It seems the more I gave to the Chamber the more I got back. The members were warm, open and helpful. It’s like family. Now I try to return the benefit I received by helping new members get ‘plugged in’ to the community.”

Another example is an investment adviser who opened his Flower Mound offices in 2003. He began with a goal to immerse himself in the affairs of the community. One of his first stops was the office of the Flower Mound Chamber. Almost immediately, his business began to reap the benefits from his involvement with the Chamber. He has this to say: “The Chamber has been critical to my success because of the willingness of its members to meet with and discuss each other’s needs. Those initial meetings have often resulted in strong, long-standing relationships that have served the mutual benefit of both parties. It was the avenue that drove my business as much or more than anything else in which I became involved. The Chamber is awesome for those that wish to immediately immerse themselves in the community and it pays dividends directly related to the amount of time a person is willing to invest.”

Yet another example was the opening of a local law firm in the summer of 2005. The attorneys there asked the very same questions mentioned above, and more concisely: “How do we reach the community?” Although they associated with several different groups, all of which have been helpful in their own way, they state that, “The Flower Mound Chamber has been the bellwether to our community outreach. The members were accepting, encouraging, supportive and helpful, and this includes members of competitive law firms. The Chamber allowed us to be networked to other business leaders and owners, the local press, and local, state and federal officials. Our business expanded exponentially almost from its inception and, in our first full year as a local law firm, we were honored by the readership of The News Connection as the “Best Law Firm in Denton County.” Although we worked very hard to meet the needs of our clients, I am convinced that our association with the Chamber profoundly affected our early success and the recognition we received from the residents of Denton County. The Chamber is like an enormous networking family. We are convinced that the Chamber works.”
