Job Summary
AECOM is looking for an Environmental Scientist.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 
  • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
  • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.
  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
  • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
  • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Works under general supervision.

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum number four years of experience
  • BS degree in related environmental environment scientist, chemistry or hard sciences degree is preferred.
  • Understanding of the scientific principles and requirements of EPA Emission Test Methods 1-5, 26A, 29, and 23 and CEM Methods 3A, 7E, 10, and 25A;
  • Familiarity and experience with Controlled Condensation Sampling (CCS) systems for SO3 and Gas Chromatography Methods 18, 15, 16 and SW-846 Method 0040 is a plus.
  • Able to work both independently and safely lead a project team in an industrial plant environment


Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word;
  • Ability to record test data legibly, completely, and accurately;
  • Show initiative and interest in professional development; and
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Other desired training and credentials include: OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER, TWIC, and QSTI.
  • Must be willing and able to work outdoors year-round, climb ladders and stairs, and work at elevated heights.
  • Willing and able to travel an average of 30% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and hoist test equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License;
  • Must pass DOT Driver medical exam and be medically cleared to wear a respirator.
  • Must pass routine and random drug screenings, as required by clients.
