Air Products & Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Microbulk Business Manager at our Houston, TX office.
 
You will manage the Microbulk field sales team and be responsible for the Microbulk P&L in the South Sub-region.  This business includes the sale and distribution of liquid oxygen, nitrogen, argon and carbon dioxide and gaseous hydrogen and helium.  You will develop and execute the strategic initiatives and operating plans to hit the profit targets and position Air Products for continued profitable growth.
 
The Microbulk Business Manager role has two roles:
  • a sales manager overseeing the Microbulk field sales team;
  • a business manager overseeing the supply chain and costs of the Microbulk business.
 
Sales Manager
  • Manage the Microbulk field sales team
    • 3 direct reports – Microbulk Sales Supervisors
    • 20+ sub-reports – Microbulk Sales Reps and Segment Specialists
  • Sell into 15 markets across the South Sub-region
  • Lead the development and execution of sales strategy to deliver on targets
  • Oversee and establish training, development and coaching of reports and sales team
  • Focus on growing the capabilities and effectiveness of the sales team
  • Lead and participate in full lifecycle of sales: prospecting, pricing, lead generation, negotiations, client meetings, proposal writing, relationship building, and closing.
  • Maintain an active presence in the field for hiring, mentoring, coaching and developing supervisors and sales teams
  • Utilize an extended team including:  Strategic Account Managers, Liquid Bulk Sales Reps, Commercial Technology Sales Engineers, Central Sales Reps, Asset Managers, Engineers and Logistics
 
Business Manager
  • Manage the P&L for the IG South Microbulk business. Deliver on profitability targets.
  • Manage business activities including budget development, monthly and quarterly business performance reporting and forecasting, setting strategic direction for the business motivating teams to deliver on productivity and business critical initiatives
  • Develop, deploy and maintain a business strategy that will fulfil our long-term growth and profitability goals
  • Work closely with pricing managers to set pricing strategy for the MB business
  • Work closely with sales (field and central) to develop and deliver on targets related to new business signings and renewals with an emphasis on the quality of deals.
  • Collaborate with operations, distribution and logistics to create a supply chain and asset base that can effectively support growth and cost objectives.
  • Work closely with distribution planning to optimize supply-demand and overall system management.
  • Collaborate with and/or lead resource planning efforts for Microbulk personnel.
  • Work closely with engineering (sub-regional and central) on product line strategy and cost management efforts
  • Lead initiatives that are required to achieve near and long-term goals to ensure continuing profitability growth of the businesses.
