Job Overview

We are recruiting a Welding Engineer to support our Longview, Texas operations.  Excellent pay and benefit package, 401k with employer contributions and matching, and bonus potential.

Responsibilities
  • Work safe and be an advocate for safety.  Drive culture to ZERO harm.
  • Maintain welder certifications.
  • Develop, support and program robotic welding operations.
  • Ensure all welding meets appropriate welding codes.
  • Assist Design Engineer with joint design and designing for manufacturability.
  • Meet with welding suppliers and vendors to ensure Letourneau Technologies’ welding needs are being met.
  • Keep up to date with new welding processes, technologies, and equipment that will reduce costs, improve through put, or increase quality.
  • Work within the scope of lean manufacturing to ensure weld deposition is being maximized.
  • Provide repair procedures for in house and field repairs as needed.
  • Perform welder training as requested by Quality and or Fabrication Manager.
  • Write work instructions, company procedures, and or policies related to welding and fabrication.
  • Perform quality audits in all fabrication areas on a monthly basis.
  • Provide technical support for all welding and fabrication.
  • Maintain active membership in AWS.
  • Maintain or become a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • Work with supply chain to aid in any technical questions, qualifying suppliers, and or ensuring quality work is being performed.
Education / Qualification
  • Bachelor’s Degree (four years of study beyond high school) or a Master’s Degree (five to six years of study beyond high school)
  • Minimum one to three years experience, prefer two years
  • Knowledge in the field of welding and heavy fabrication
  • Knowledge in materials and properties
  • Experienced in developing, supporting and programming robotic welding operations
  • Writing procedures, Reading & Interpreting drawings and Standards
  • Welding and International Codes & Standards
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
  • Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Physics - Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical, atomic and sub- atomic structures and processes.
  • Direct/ plan an entire activity or the activities of other work orders
  • Must be a self-starter, able to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Good analytical skills.

  • Work well with many kinds of people
  • Work with numbers, do careful research, and organize findings
