Position Description
The Programmer Analyst IV's role is to assist with the development of project plans to test, analyze, and maintain software applications in support of business requirements. This position is also responsible for supervising and/or leading the development of new systems, directing changes to existing systems, controlling the interfaces between the systems, initiating complex feasibility studies, and making recommendations of the action to be taken. The position is also expected to assist senior departmental management in determining the strategic IT direction for the area and/or unit and, as such, may interface with key IT leadership. Discretion and sound judgment is expected.

Major/Essential Functions
Maintain the ability to work well with co-workers, faculty, staff, and students by providing excellent customer service and multitasking with ease; Adheres to institutional and departmental safety policies and procedures; Plans organizes, coordinates the study formulation and design of automated  data processing systems and/or programs for student information system use, i.e. Advise, Recruit, Axiom, etc..); Develop mainframe, WEB based and PC programs using SQL server, DB2 data bases, Oracle, VB; Provide advice and consultation to administrative officials and other personnel related to data processing issues; Assists in the development for project plans - this can include application design, development, testing, implementing and maintaining; Makes recommendations and revisions relative to on-the-job training methods; Provides for adhoc and standardized reports to user areas; Keeps current with the technologies and programming techniques as they are introduced; Works in a team environment with the programming staff at TTUHSC/TTU and in cooperation with the standards and guidelines established by the IS Department at TTUHSC/TTU; Provides guidance for Analyst III in order to assist with their job responsibilities; Plans and organizes Degree Works system; Works with school personnel and registrar staff to ensure accuracy of the data for each degree program offered at TTUHSC; Attends professional development conferences or webinars; Maintains strict confidentiality for admitted students, current students, faculty, and staff

Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area plus five (5) years related full-time paid experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience.
